Audit of the Governance tools and procedures of BanklessDAO: Emergency Protocol

  1. I get the sense you don’t know what a Sybil attack is.

  2. You’re suggesting we enforce Notion admin.requirements from a central authority. Did you even read links’ reply?

  3. You aren’t ‘simply’ doing anything. You are deliberately finding fault with aspects of the DAO you have no understanding about, possibly in an attempt to distract from the fact Grants Committee has been a shambles this season.

I’m going to stop engaging with this rubbish now.

What gives you this sense?

I am not sure what you mean by this?
The Grants Committee has nothing to do with this could you provide more context please

I appreciate that you aren’t taking any offense to this. It is in no way meant to offend or accuse anyone,

Wow! As the oldest and totally non-technically (pre-computer) bDAO member since Season 0, I am both shocked and thrilled by this heartfelt and intense discussion. In my 24 year US Marine military career, 1 war, Vietnam (a bad one, but really are any good?) and 36 years in electronics and start-ups, nothing like this occurred or probably could have. Another challenge for our DAO experiment. We need continued evolution, innovation and building during year 3. I smile at the thought of starting over. Yes we have had some challenges and issues and I have seen tremendous e improvements. Keep it up. No one person has the ability to DAO correctly but together we will overcome our current struggles and issues by consensus one issue at a time. Keep on keeping on folks of course with integrity however one chooses to define it! Peace out!

Those are good suggestions, except that all that you named are actually most of the ones with the consolidated admin control.
An external audit would be a way to go.
Another would be to have L2’s credentialed somehow and that would give them admin access

In the Notion conversation @links had mentioned that Notion has been audited recently.

Yes. By the people with the admin permission. How can anyone or anything effectively audit itself? Wouldn’t they be biased?

Do you believe in your heart of hearts that there is something suspicious happening with the Notion team?

No. I don’t. I don’t know if we can let our hearts be the judge of anything though (I know my heart has been wrong before.)

I do understand what you are saying and shared opinions about the decisions of many being in the hands of the few, I just believe that this is not the way to take this on.

I understand and thank you. For me, it’s hard to work on onboarding when there are all of these other things that should get figured out first.

Hi @Trewkat
I did my best to answer these

Why is the title of this post Request for Comments yet there is a poll which asks for agreement to adopt the framework?

  1. To also gauge sentiment. And comments on the poll itself. NFThinker gave me a great one.

Why does the poll include this an option? I assume it is meant to be the question. It’s not valid the way it is.

  1. It shouldn’t. I must have done something wrong.

temp check - Do you agree to adopt this interim Governance Framework?

Why is there no rationale provided for the proposed interim governance framework?

  1. I should have referenced my previous post regarding the consolidation of administrative privileges and control over our server, our work and .

What is your rationale for the proposed interim governance framework?

  1. My rationale is a combination of things. Our governance is editable, and has been edited. Until we see what has or hasn’t been changed, it makes sense to me to have something simple in place

If this interim framework is adopted, how long would you anticipate it being in place?

  1. Until there is something that has been voted on to replace it. The governance Dept is working on this (as you know)

What governance strategy would be pursued following the adoption of an interim framework?

  1. I would say decentralized good governance, but if you factor in Bankless then it is more of a decentralized hybrid model.

Why have you not sought any feedback or collaboration with other DAO contributors in proposing this framework?

  1. I am currently asking for feedback.

Why are members separated into two categories if both have equal voting rights?

  1. Right now voting rights are not equal. The more BANK you have the more say that you have. That shouldn’t be the only thing that counts. This adds those other layers in.

Does the Season Pass refer to the planned pass associated with tlBANK?

  1. It can, but doesn’t have to. That is why I incorporate BANK in any form.

If so, why is there a need to specify Junior members? Are you suggesting that people who do not hold the BANK token can vote on DAO proposals?

  1. Yes, just as Guest Pass holders can vote now. But their vote only matters if it is 1 person 1 vote. This way, their vote can be counted for more than that.

How did you choose the Inner Circle Partners and Partner Nations?

  1. I chose the first thing that came to my mind. I was doing it quickly. Feel free to call it whatever you would like.

What code of conduct would the wallet address need to agree to?

  1. I am open to suggestions. I believe the legal Guild is working on one. There is Discords that everyone has already agreed to. Something bDAO specific could be added.

How would you verify that the code of conduct has been agreed to?

  1. It could be written as an article or an NFT. To collect it, you sign the transaction

What is a Bankless Boarding Pass?

  1. Another thing that I thought of - I probably heard something like this before and it sounded right. It doesn’t matter what the name is.

Does Bankless Badge refer to the Bankless HQ subscriber badge, or something else?

  1. Yes it refers to the Bankless HQ badge

What “BanklessDAO Governance Documents” would be changed as a result of a successful RFc?

Do you really expect that people will understand this framework without any contextual supporting information from you?

I am not that great at explaining things. A great explanation would be nice.

Sure, there are pressing issues, that are being worked on. Constitution is being organized.

The changed docs situation. You can ask who changed it. It looks like it was @Rowan in the doc you’ve mentioned. So ask Rowan what happened.

I attempted the same move that you did with the code of conduct, it worked fairly poorly. However, I noticed that I haven’t heard anything from legal guild about their code of conduct. It’s possible that the conversation can be brought up again, but perhaps through governance.

Ive read through some chats I’ve seen with you, and the two forum posts. It seems like you are attempting the approach where you are a man on an island and you’re the only one who can save the day.

That does not need to be the case! We can get through this together!

@hirokennelly if you do go line by line,
Below is a table for quorum, timeline, and voting thresholds. Numbers are a weighted average of the results from the previous post

Since the quorum removal vote rendered this vote invalid, wouldn’t these numbers be invalid?

Wouldn’t quorum simply be the majority?

This is 1 example. It doesn’t matter what or why just that it can be changed

For anyone wondering where these questions were asked, they are from a different Forum post: Request for Feedback - Interim Governance Framework

But you need to ask why, right?

If the answer is the season specs need to go in GitHub, if the answer is what @0xbaer suggested, ok!

You haven’t presented an actual solution. These new docs need to be written somewhere right? So don’t you run the risk of the same thing happening if you create different docs in the same format?

We don’t even seem to have a full grasp on why we even create season specs. Are they governing principles?

Let’s go to the 1000 bank/hr point of contention. If your view is “let’s just throw everything out the window and start over” why are you sticking to the 1000 bank/hr suggestion (and sticking to it incorrectly it seems)

It does not seem like the whole story is being discussed here.

Yea what @0xbaer suggested would be a solution to the storage part.
Having L2’s be able to get credentialed to be admin
