SUMMARY

The core mission of the DAOLationships Guild is to facilitate and coordinate relationships between external organizations and BanklessDAO. When other guilds in the bDAO need support from external organizations, they come to DAOLationships to help understand and navigate the personal connections we have. When other orgs want to establish a connection with bDAO, the DAOLationships Guild helps to coordinate those efforts for maximum mutual benefit.

Late in Season 1, we established a governance framework, multisig, and two permanent roles to guide the guild: Guild Coordinator, held by Viking as incumbent, and Governance Coordinator, to which Bo was elected.

During Season 2 we began our operations in earnest. Early wins included the establishment of clarified Notion pages including mission and practices; attempted establishing a CRM with simple, effective functionality; several successful collaborations with major DAOs like UMA and Polygon Ecosystem; and continued proliferation of relationships at powerhouse DAOs across Web3. The most important achievements for the DAOLationships Guild have been raising awareness of BanklessDAO across Web3 and promoting revenue opportunities for various guilds across the DAO.

In Season 3 we intend to refine the process of DAO-to-DAO relationship building through a rigorous process that culminates in value-added information sessions that we host within BanklessDAO.

Our guild’s Gnosis Safe is forecast to retain 90,015 BANK at the end of Season 2. Our gross budgetary request for Season 3 has been defined as 373,000. Therefore we are requesting 282,985 BANK from the Grants Committee for our Season 3 allocation.

SUMMARY OF SEASON 2 ACTIVITIES

Accomplishments

  1. We entirely rewrote the guiding documents for our guild in Notion, clarifying our role in the DAO.
  2. We created an interface with Consultancy, the BED Index team, and other guilds and projects for handoff of opportunities uncovered.
  3. We coordinated an ecosystem collaboration between both UMA and Polygon Ecosystem. These collaborations will result in DAO-to-DAO interface events that will be hosted in late December and/or early January.
  4. Created a CRM to manage the DAO’s relationships across hundreds of other DAOs. Began tracking 151 different organizations, and identified shortcomings of a Web2-style CRM when applied to Web3 opportunities, thereby creating a new development opportunity for BanklessDAO.
  5. Spun out the DRM project, an effort to radically evolve the web2 CRM for a Web3 world, an exciting cross-guild collaboration.
  6. Spun out the Sponsorship project, an effort to define sponsorship packages, pricing and marketing material, another cross-guild collaboration.
  7. Sobol indicates that 130 members of BanklessDAO have the DAOLationships tag selected in their profile. While a small number of those are core contributors, we appreciate that maintaining relationships across the web3 universe is a massive team effort.

Challenges

  1. Many of our guild members appear to be transient. Attendance at our weekly guild calls ranges between 5-10 members,
  2. The CRM that we created early in Season 2 failed to gain adoption internally. Many were confused about how to use the application. Together with a lack of direct activity-based compensation, this led to poor activity tracking.

SEASON 3 PLANS AND GOALS

Our goal is to facilitate relationships between BanklessDAO and other leading Web3 organizations, while enhancing our own processes and capabilities.

Supporting the needs of bDAO members

When other guilds in the bDAO need support from external organizations, they come to DAOLationships to help understand and navigate the personal connections we have. This is an ongoing challenge that can best be solved when equipped with a scaled Web3 DRM, which members of the DAOLationships guild are working to build. In the meantime, the DAOLationships Guild intends to fill the gap by utilizing our old-school CRM and good-old-fashioned institutional knowledge.

Our specific goal in this area is to assist the cross-guild collaboration DRM project in order to fast-track the development of a Web3-ready tool for our use.

Supporting the needs of external DAOs

When other organizations want to establish a connection with BanklessDAO, the DAOLationships Guild helps to coordinate those efforts for maximum mutual benefit. Our primary collaboration system will continue to be presentations, AMAs and cross-pollination meetings that are held for the edification of the entire BanklessDAO community. We will build upon collaboration successes like we’ve had with Index Coop, Gitcoin, D0rg, Frabric, UMA, Polygon Ecosystem and Popcorn Finance, among others.

Our specific goal in this area is to build a rigorous and repeatable process to introduce leading Web3 organizations to the BanklessDAO community through a variety of activation types (including presentations, AMAs, cross-pollination meetings, challenge-iteration meetings etc.), including due diligence, activity scheduling & execution, and feedback loops with NPS.

Supporting the growth of our guild

We will enhance our own processes and capabilities by focusing on effective onboarding, training, relationship tracking, talent coordination and coaching. We will establish a dedicated Talent Scout to assist intra-DAO coordination & collaboration, and help keep a pulse on what’s going on in other teams. This will be a salaried position with KPI including member recruitment and retention, and guild NPS.

FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS

For Season 2, we requested and were granted a budget of 368,000 BANK, which included:

  • 168,000 for two salaried positions (Guild Coordinator & Governance Coordinator)
  • 50,000 for bounties
  • 150,000 for an end-of-season Coordinape.

Our guild’s Gnosis Safe is forecast to retain 90,015 BANK at the end of Season 2 [310,015 balance minus 150,000 end-of-season Coordinape minus 70,000 final salary payments].

Season 3 Budget

We are requesting a budget of 373,000:

  • 252,000 for three salaried positions (Guild Coordinator, Governance Coordinator & Talent Scout)
  • 75,000 for Coordinapes, intended to be executed monthly at 25,000 per round
  • 46,000 for bounties, including note-taking, activations and apprenticeships

Taking into account the current forecast balance in our guild’s safe, we are requesting 282,985 BANK from the Grants Committee for our Season 3 allocation.

SUCCESS METRICS

Our goal is to achieve the following during Season 3:

  • Average 1x discovery call per week with potential collaborators and partners
  • Build a rigorous and repeatable process to introduce leading Web3 organizations to the BanklessDAO community through a variety of activation types (including discovery calls, cross-pollinating meetings etc.), including due diligence, activity scheduling & execution, and feedback loops.
  • Host at least three such activations during Season 3
  • Introduce 6 revenue opportunities to other guilds
  • Establish near-and-clear compensation guidelines that promote activities that move the guild forward in its mission
  • Double the number of active guild members, as reflected in attendance at our weekly guild calls
  • Attract at least one apprentice for each permanent guild role
