I’m having trouble understanding why centralization is even an issue in this election. The candidates are:
Baer.eth#6344
Icedcool🏴#4947 (on multisig)
Paulito#8869
Daolexa#0001
links🏴#7868
LiviuC#7835
Saurabh QB#2821
Steff#7452.
As far as I know, only Icedcool has a role on the multisig, and no other candidate has a role in the Governance Department. So why is this a problem?
TBH even if there was significant overlap (we had 3 members of the multisig on GC during the bull market), I still don’t see it as an issue as long as proper election procedures are followed. It’s still 7 people from around the world handling each multisig, and they can be replaced during election times.
Awesome, please have them stand for election!
Awesome, please write a bDIP to make this a reality!
Yah @Bananachain i don’t hold any roles in the governance department and not active in there! And I’m not considering running for the upcoming multisig election
From what I read in the chat, it was literally announced that day or something for the FIRST time that there is a deadline. xD I dont think the people are asking about a wiggle-wiggle room, just a PROPER and respectful communication which rarely comes from GC.
Dont think anyone does. A lot it comes down to the way how things are communicated, and whether they are communicated… that’s the main issue. GC is SOOO Important for the DAO, and is like its enemy. I have never heard ONE good word about the GC, and each and every season there are too many issues. I dont understand how GC doesnt go nuts from so many complaints, and instead of streamlining processes - every time, a new issue comes up.
You complain about the centralization, and you were literally unable to respond to any of my questions on the thread for the legal guild. I was told I would get a response, never did.
For full disclosure: I occasionally pop in and contribute on a voluntary basis, not a role holder. Tbh, I think I could add value in the GC as it’s such an important element, and I’ve been following what’s been happening, and developed some ideas in my head based on the issues I encountered with the GC in s7.
@0xbaer - DAO steward @daolexa - legal guild, code of conduct creator. And I suppose now policy creator @Paulito ombuds although he’s stepping down so I could take him out of this equation
And we all know icedcools involvement.
@links, I dunno friend, @Bananachain may in fact have a point with this one.
Daostewards is an external facing entity we aren’t currently aiming to influence the internal policies of bDAO.
For the conversation, it seems @homie and @Bananachain are implanting there is a potential for centralisation because the applicants are active in the governance of the DAO, i.e the people who are trying to upgrade to the system.
So shouldn’t that kind of people are supposed to be on the GC?
@homie every single GC candidate contributes in multiple places in the DAO. How does that make the GC more centralized? Doesn’t it give the GC diverse perspective?
What is your definition of centralization? How would electing any of the current candidate for GC negatively impact the DAO?
How do we improve GC if we don’t have different people doing different stuff in the DAO? I am a bit confused, if anyone can explain.
Also, the issue with centralization is because decisions are made on ‘as I feel I like’ principle - there are no established procedures, frameworks, guidelines, recommendations, NOTHING, that ensures everyone are equally treated and decisions are made on facts and requirements met.
Governance should have as many people as possible involved from different Guilds, as the more diverse it - the more chances we have of making it better. Also, we don’t have a lot of people who want to get involved.
Also, why is being a multisig an issue? No one gets paid for it.
So I don’t know if it’s a bad thing. It probably isn’t
But it’s definitely something to consider.
This quote is telling. There may be a bit of apathy going on, because people may feel like the loudest voices in the room are the only ones that matter.
Take a look at how @Bananachain questions are being taken.
Take a look at how my comment was taken.
Folks have been on the war path lately. Any comment can be very touchy. We also have an applicant that just stated that we don’t have people ready to assist.
I just wonder if we all need to take a deep breath, and reflect on this last week.
That’s not correct. BDIP-08 does not seek to add payment for vault multisig signers.
It seeks to modify the BanklessDAO Constitution to include text regarding the selection criteria, mandate, and election procedures associated with the role.
I think we might not be considering the idea of centralization correctly either.
If there isn’t much structure, someone is going to have to come together to get that structure in place. A centralized unit. But that’s going to happen naturally.
No… it clearly states in the summary at the top of the proposal what it is proposing.
Why did you assume, rather than check for yourself? That’s probably your answer.
Why did you assume that I just didn’t read the bdip? Why would I even comment that something is there from a blind link?
Do you feel (honest question) that people are just commenting for the sake of commenting? I have seen that in some of these posts, and I’m sure considering what has happened lately it could definitely feel that way.
