Edu Guild Multisig address - Google Docs

The Education Guild is requesting 755,000 BANK for seasonal funding from BanklessDAO for Season 3. This proposal will detail the specifications of the funding request.

Thanks to the funding received in Season 2 the Education Guild managed to establish a sustainable governance structure, onboard new talent and received Grants by third party DAOs for its educational on-demand products.

In Season 3 it is our goal to further decentralize the remuneration process by opening the paid roles up for everyone to contribute via workgroups. The focus for this season will be inner-DAO education on contributing within the BanklessDAO as well as towards operating in web3.

At the end of Season 2, the Education Guild will open a Coordinape round to remunerate contributors for efforts throughout Season 2. And is hoping to do so in Season 3 as well.

The Guilds treasury inherits additional 200k from previous seasons, which will help us keep our funding proposal as light as possible by using this buffer to fund or add funding to projects which had their genesis in Education Guild.

The Education Guild plays a pivotal role in the Bankless mission. Our main focus is to focalize the organization of the guild, the nourishment of talent, and the coordination of necessary labor required for DAO operations and governance.

Many members of the Education Guild are heavily involved in major DAO projects such as First Quest and Bankless Academy and help onboard new DAO members into these projects by educating them.

S3 - Governance

Cross-guild Project Coordinator / Edu Guild Promoter (Name TBD)
Priority alignment: Offer support to DAO-wide educational projects

An example of the responsibility this person would have is to help the Solidity Learning team scale their cohort style course.

  • Identify educational projects that would benefit from help by education guild talent.
  • Lead the support effort for the identified projects
  • Provide feedback on educational requirements for DAO-wide projects
  • Work together with the education guild talent coordinators to find and staff talent for DAO-wide projects.
  • Be the main point of contact for other guilds who are currently using education guild resources and talent, and for those who want to use education guild resources and talent.

Priority alignment: Promoting our work

Role Qualifications - a passion for developing products, a desire to marketing educational products, and the ability to work well in teams.

  • Work together with other role holders to gain awareness of all educational projects and resources in BanklessDAO
  • Explore options for publicizing all scheduled workshops, available resources, and projects
  • Lead the development of a solution to make all educational resources accessible and discoverable
  • Share wins on weekly education calls and community calls

Lead Talent Coordinator
Priority alignment: Encourage and develop members

  • Develop a training doc outlining the key skills of a strong talent coordinator
  • Build and train a team of talent coordinators
  • Take personal ownership of new members by getting to know them, discovering their passions, and getting them started in projects that fit their interests.
  • Offer support to the rest of the guid roles by scouting and providing talent where needed.
  • Maintain contact with members to provide support if and when necessary
  • Maintain Notion table of active contributors

Education Champion
Priority alignment: web3 and operational education

An example of the responsibility this person would have is identifying opportunities for the mentorship program to build out while keeping that ship moving in the right direction.

Role Qualifications - a passion for members, a sense of care for members, and experience in education.

  • Possess awareness of all educational projects and resources at BanklessDAO
  • Actively drive development of educational products
  • Identify opportunities to educate BanklessDAO members
  • Work together with talent coordinators to staff projects
  • Work together with the cross-guild project coordinator to support existing education projects and teams

Guild Administrator

Priority alignment - The glue

  • Possess awareness of DAO and guild governance procedures
  • Assist others navigate governance processes
  • Be responsible for upholding governance processes
  • Represent the guild in any governance related activities
  • Raise awareness for changes in governance
  • Update Notion and Discord channels with new information
  • Organize and facilitate weekly meetings
  • Act as a reliable point of contact for general guild matters
  • Provide guild updates on Weekly DAO CC
  • Possess awareness of all guild-related activities and assist in removing any blockers
  • Track incoming and outgoing transactions from guild’s multi-sig
  • Track reimbursements due to guild members for remuneration
  • Report guild spending to Treasury Guild

The Education Guild voted and approved to allocate 200,000 BANK to a Coordinape round at the end of Season 2. The Coordinape round will be open to all members, including Guest Pass holders. However, elected governance role members will not be allowed to receive BANK from this Coordinape round.

In Season 3, we will repeat this process of rewarding guild members for actively participating and contributing to the guild’s ongoing success. We hope to allocate the same amount of 200,000 BANK for this purpose. The eligible roles are still to be determined, because of our renewed workgroup structure.

Misc Expense

Unlike Season 1 and 2 we decided to not request any funding for miscellaneous expenses.
Reason being the buffer in our treasury and the category itself being too nonspecific.

We anticipate the following expenditures during Season 3:

  • Governance 555,000 BANK
  • Recognition 200,000 BANK
  • Total Spending 755,000 BANK

This is 20k BANK more than what was requested and approved for in Season 2. Even though we grew in size and engagement unproportionally, we can keep the extra funding required at a minimum thanks to improved efficiency in the Guilds procedures based upon the actions and best practices we managed to implement following the Season 2 funding.

Recognition expenditures are anticipated to occur within Coordinape rounds.

Governance expenditures are anticipated to be broken into workgroups as follows:

Governance (workgroups) estimated BANK/month
Talent Coordination 55,000
Education Championship 50,000
Promoter/Cross Guild Coordinator (merged in funding) 40,000
Guild administration 40,000
monthly total 185,000
Workgroups Season total (3 months) 555,000

In our Season 2 proposal we implemented success metrics to determine how well our Guild is doing and we want to share these results with you.

Monitor and increase weekly meeting attendance

We started to monitor the Edu Guild Weekly attendance with the DAOs DEGEN bot and working with the Analytics Guild. These are our findings for Season 2:

EDU Guild Attendance (S2)With an average attendance of 27.4 each meeting. We can see meeting attendance is increasing since we began collecting data at the end of October. We assume 11/21/2021 being an outbreaker because of the Thanksgiving weekend.

Guild related activities

  • Poll voting: ~ 17 on average
  • Guild Projects: 6
  • Raffles: 2
  • Coordinape rounds
    • Single S1 round happened in September 2021
    • Single S2 round to happen in January 2022

For Season 3 we are looking to provide exact numbers on Guild related activities in collaboration with the Analytics Guild and the DAODash project.

The Education Guild will continue to measure its success in Season 3 by using the following metrics:

  • Monitor and increase attendance at weekly guild meetings
  • Monitor and increase participation in guild related activities
    • Poll voting
    • Guild Projects
    • Active participants in Coordinape rounds and workgroups
  • Increase the number of funded projects providing educational content
  • Personal growth of DAO members
    • Have a DAO-wide poll at the end of the season “Did you feel that Edu Guild or it’s projects (list) empowered or educated you in your bDAO contributions?”

great proposal! thanks for writing it up!

So excited for Season 3. We’re gonna crush it.

Another well written request for funding, Very supportive of the request and the collaboration and coordination that brought it to this point of proposing. Believe it fits very well with the vision and mission of ourDAO. Solid.

personally i feel the numbers for governance is way to high. I don’t feel as an edu guild member there was much involvement from some of this season role holders, i still don’t really understand what if anything they learned from the current season or who wants to do what next season.
They also waited until the last few weeks of the season to actually start working on administration and such. Some role holders have gone above and beyond and their work doesn’t seem to be reflected at all in the Guild Assessment of success Metrics or KPIs.

Is the BANK going to the Role Holders for Managing Working Groups or is Each Working Group going to have it’s own multi sig? I read 88% of the funds going to Role Holders and (75k not 200k)
12% of the budget is only going to incentivize the work in the Working Groups via coordinape?

Edit: woops double post haha

Hi Ernest, I wrote you down as an author because we used some sentences from you for the proposal.

Bank will go to the edu guild treasury and not the champions. The workgroups will coordinate the number and amount of distributions themselves. Hopefully monthly once we’re all experienced.

Regarding your other points in other comments, please feel free to join the meetings next time and get your thoughts and ideas included. I know that you deliver great content

Ya, I don’t want to be considered an author for this document please

Ok, I did edit the forum post, whenever I’m on laptop, I can edit the doc as well.

It was great being able to talk about some of your points in today’s edu weekly!

Let’s shape the guild to become fair and sturdy.

PS responding forum on mobile is a bit buggy

Thank you for submitting the funding request for the “talent coordinator workgroup under the education guild”

As we discussed in our workgroup: Our main spending will be

  1. Education Guild Intro Quest
A notion quest with some tasks and games.

  2. Rolling out the red carpet for new people into the BanklessDAO.
The work done by our workgroup can be rather invisible, and I get a lot of good feedback about this.
The silent workers like Marvel, ThePsychGuy, Asturias, Cheetah, Peng, they really really need to be well recognised for their work.
The least I can do is compensate some of their time with a little BANKs.

  3. Doing voice calls for:

  • Top quality talent for BanklessDAO
  • Top quality talent for Education Guild.
  • Weekly Office Hours to help people onboard to working in a DAO.
  1. Coordinating talent needs for education guild projects.

We will update with a detailed breakdown of budget request after the break week.
