Project Management Guild Season 6 Budget Proposal

PM guild Season 6 budget proposal

This is the proposal for the Season 6 budget of the Project Management guild. This item contains the essential reads to understand what we achieved in this Season and what we will need to continue to be successful in Season 6

Season 5 goals and achievements

From our Season 5 budget proposal, these were the goals that we set ourselves:

  • PM Guild is a place of education, where PMs get skilled on relevant topics to optimize success of their projects.

To make progress to this strategic goal we will create an education plan that is oriented at different levels of skills. Bonus points if education elements are documented at the end of the Season so they can be repeatedly used.

  • PM Guild is a place of thought leadership where we think and write about the future of DAO work structure from a PM perspective.

To move further in this direction we will launch a round table to discuss agile topics of DAOs with project management competence centers in other DAOs as well as with the team of agile coaches of scrum.org.

  • PM guild is a hub for projects to access talents.

We will do a structured assessment with each project to discover how we can match our project management talents with needs of the projects.

Achievements

We made progress on all three goals above, on goal 1 we were not able to fully complete the goal that we tried to achieve.

On goal 1 - create an education plan

  • We created a skill tree to help classify the type of talent and education we would like to nurture
  • We agreed that this education plan should have different skill levels and that every active guild member would be required to create education material for the lower skill levels to be eligible for the active guild member status.
  • We want to create the processes to manage the education sessions/material, credentialing of the students and payment of the teacher/creator in Season 6.

On goal 2 - launch a roundtable for thought leadership

We started this roundtable in Season 5 as biweekly sessions. One PM guild session was joined by Pooja Ranjan, Project Manager from Ethereum Cat Herders.

On goal 3 - perform a matching between talents and projects in bDAO

There were three projects in Season 5 that were actively seeking PM talent. Bankless Academy, Bounty Board and Daolationships. We were able to match all three requests. At the same time we realized that there is still some work to do on the education part to be able to have a sufficient amount of skilled PMs ready to match all needs of projects in bDAO. Therefore, a structured assessment was not performed.

Other achievements of PM guild in Season 5 were:

  • Started a Youtube channel to record all sessions of PM guild. This helps us to cater for more time zones of our contributors and hence gives us more access to talent.
  • Started a Twitter account and post a meme of the week
  • Firmed up our Governance by defining active guild membership eligibility, role holder election

guidelines and definition of an accounting role holder.

  • Completely revamped our PM start here channel
  • Performed an extensive guild vibes check and learned from the results
  • Created roles or Bounties for recurring tasks in the guild.

Goals for Season 6

Our strategic goals remain:

  • PM Guild is a place of education, where PMs get skilled on relevant topics to optimize success of their projects.
  • PM Guild is a place of thought leadership where we think and write about the future of DAO work structure from a PM perspective.
  • PM guild is a hub for projects to access talents.

To work towards these strategic goals, we set ourselves the following goals for Season 6

Goals for Season 6

  • Setup a Bankless Academy course for web3 specific Project Management content.
  • Continue PM brain accelerator sessions bi-weekly on specific web3 Project Management topics, where possible with guests.
  • Gap assessment with projects on their project management skill needs.

KPIs of PM guild

Besides our goals, that we refresh every Season, Season 5 saw the introduction of KPIs, that we will measure on an ongoing basis. These KPIs help us to objectively measure, whether the guild is doing the right thing. These KPIs are:

  • of active members of the guild Season-on-Season

  • of projects analyzed

  • of education pieces created

Awesome proposal!
Is there no provision for coordinape in Season 6?

Hey @Warrior! Good question. The budget does account for coordinape. Check this out for reference Guilds As Professional Associations: a new funding model
