Organizing as: Guild

Funding mechanism: Member-based Funding

Ask: 638.000 BANK

The major goals that the Translators guild set for season 5 were:

#1 to onboard more members to the guild

#2 increasing the number of opportunities to contribute for guild members,

#3 further improve guild operations through micro roles and bounties,

#4 strengthening relationships between guilds to make BanklessDAO content available to more languages,

#5 initiate new projects that will generate revenue for BanklessDAO and

#6 create a workflow to receive translations from externals so that we can offer Translation Services as a guild for bDAO itself, other bDAO projects, and external clients.

5 out of 6 goals were achieved:

#1 onboard more members to the guild

During season 5, a major focus was given to onboarding new members to the Translator’s Guild. Weekly onboarding sessions were utilized to improve onboarding and an onboarding handbook, as well as an onboarding presentation for newcomers, were created. Miro was also utilized to visualize the onboarding process and an onboarding POAP was introduced to reward new members in a Web3 native way and document the onboarding process.

A total of 10 members were onboarded in Season 5 in a bear market environment of which we’re really proud. From the total, all of them completed their Sobol profile as a first step and completed their Translators Guild First Quest as well.

#2 increasing the number of opportunities to contribute for guild members

This season we utilized Dework for bounty distribution with approximately 50 bounties being claimed up to date, something that helped members to contribute while also spreading the Bankless mission and values. We supported a number of bounties, most of them coming from the WeAreDAO campaign that was available to members that translated to languages supported by the IMN and published to the respective Twitter accounts amplifying the reach of the translated content.

#3 further improve guild operations through micro roles and bounties

We continued to use micro roles to introduce guild members to role-holder duties as well as work on specific needs of the guild in an effective way. This season we used micro roles for the POAPs manager, Bounty manager, Social Media Manager, Marketing liaison, and Content alignment.

#4 strengthening relationships between guilds to make BanklessDAO content available in more languages

The marketing liaison micro-role helped us in creating a process to bring in the Guild content created by other Guilds (esp. Marketing) and have it available for translations. Even though a Season is not long enough to fully evaluate the progress, we can say with certainty that this is a step in the right direction. Efforts to create bridges and workflows with other Bdao Guilds will be encouraged in the following season.

#5 initiate new projects

The biggest project this season was the Glossary project. The project worked on curating an extensive Web3 term glossary in various languages. The team was able to acquire funding from the Grants Committee and has concluded the Translation phase.

The translation of the BanklessDAO Constitution is another project that spun off the Guild. Being able to use internal funding we were able in a short period of time to Translate the BanklessDAO Constitution, which is soon going to be available in the form of an NFT.

#6 create a workflow to receive translations from externals so that we can offer Translation Services as a guild for bDAO itself, other bDAO projects, and external clients

Even though we were able to work internally on the workflow for projects and bounties, we are still lacking in formatting our offerings to possible external clients.

Season 6 Budget Proposal

The season 5 budget helped achieve the majority of the Translator’s Guild goals while also being mindful of BanklessDAO resources. For that reason only minor adjustments are being proposed:

Guild Coordinator 5K/week

Governance and Treasury

Guild governance coordinator 5k/week

Onboarding

Talent Scout 5K/week

Split in 2 so we can onboard contributors from most timezones.

Notion

Notion Administrator 13.000BANK/per season

Translators Guild Ask for roles: 338.000 BANK

Active members (x10000)= 300.000BANK

Active member definition: Role holders + micro role holders + Coordinape participants.
(Coordinape participation criteria are defined here: Notion – The all-in-one workspace for your notes, tasks, wikis, and databases.)
